Folic Acid is one of the members of water-soluble vitamin B. It is correlated to the chemical reactions in body, including  one-carbon metabolism, purine synthesis and decarboxylation of 5-methylcytosine into thymine for DNA and RNA synthesis and maintain the division and reproduction of cells. Foetus and babies who are at the peak of cell division, folic acid is necessary for preventing abnormal inner vertebral column and brain cells development. Thus, it is suggested that pregnant women should have adequate daily intake of folic acid.
